About Me
Zakia believes in equal human rights for all and is passionate about combating gender inequality and promoting women’s empowerment through education and skills development as well as working in partnership with other like-minded organisations and individuals. Zakia has been busy doing this throughout her life in Pakistan and now in Australia.
Zakia is a Founding Director of Australian Hazara Women’s Friendship Network Inc. which believes that educating women means educating humanity, and empowering them can reduce human rights violations throughout the world.
She won an SBS competition to meet Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Australia Day 2013.
