Dr Jane Gleeson-White is a writer and speaker passionate about the natural world, literature and economics.
She’s the author of Six Capitals: The revolution capitalism has to have (2014), which was shortlisted for the 800-CEO-READ’s best Finance and Economics Book published in North America in 2015. Six Capitals is the sequel to her internationally acclaimed, prize-winning third book Double Entry: How the merchants of Venice shaped the modern world (2011). Jane has spoken about economics, accounting and sustainability around the world, including at the UN, EU and New York Hedge Fund Round Table. She is particularly interested in the relationship between story, economics, accounting, law, and the natural world. Her first two books were about literature: Classics (2005) and Australian Classics (2007). Jane has written for Bloomberg, Wired, the Guardian, the Australian, Sydney Morning Herald, Meanjin, Overland, Wellbeing and Good Reading magazine. She was the fiction editor of Overland journal from 2010 to 2012, and wrote a book blog, bookishgirl.com.au, from 2010 to 2016.
