Ernestine Burnett arrived in Australia from The Netherlands in 1980. She went back to University in 1985 to finish her Arts Degree she started in the Netherlands, majoring in Linguistics and Philosophy. In1988 she married Darryl Burnett, barrister and they produced two sons: Tristan who is now a doctor and Carl, who is a banker. She started her yoga practice in 1989 and continued ever since. Upon completion of her advanced yoga teacher’s training in 2010, she started her own business Inner Sanctum Yoga. While continuously teaching during the week, she organised many weekend yoga /meditation retreats, which also included Sound Healings. After 10 years of yoga and meditation teaching, she is now a registered senior yoga teacher with Yoga Australia. Around 2017 she started writing her book Yoga Mind 108, a handbook for yoga students and teachers alike. During Covid she decided to illustrate her own book and it was finally published in May 2023. A selection of her book illustrations were included in an arts exhibition at the Eagle’s Nest Art Gallery in Aireys Inlet, as part of the Great Ocean Road Art Trail in August 2023.
