Raised in Central Queensland Australia by an entrepreneur and a librarian, Desley’s lifelong curiosity has resulted in a deliberately eclectic career. She has been an educational leader, business developer during the dot.com era, Managing Director of a global IT security company and now co-founder of Aberrant Learning. With a keen appreciation of the extraordinary demands leaders face and an understanding of what makes contemporary workplaces tick, why people get stuck and what to do about it, her current focus is on supporting people to make progress in even the most challenging of circumstances.
Desley is not afraid to have difficult conversations from a place of integrity and deep respect and her PhD (Contextualist coaching for complex times) represents a much-needed innovation in adult learning.
Dynamic and knowledgeable, she sensitively delivers real and interactive keynotes that inspire, inform, and facilitate action.
Desley is on the Board of the Growth Edge Network and a member of the International Coach Federation, Professional Speakers Australia, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her book Energise: Stop solving problems and start making progress will be released in 2022.
A keyboard player (and want-to-be drummer) in a rock cover band, Desley lives with her musician husband and two white Turkish Angora rescue cats.
