Previously a special school teacher, over the past sixteen years Cora has worked for women responding to family violence experiences – in three roles [professional and honorary] in different agencies. Until her recent retirement, she:
•established and managed a rural high security refuge – with oversight for program development, staff recruitment, property purchase and maintenance, and network building.
•was board member and twice president of a community agency
•facilitated agency transition from collective to corporate structure [governance and operation], yet retained its feminist philosophy
•wrote a successful multi-agency tender for regional ongoing service delivery
•provided position descriptions, recruitment, and support of executive officers
•purchased agency’s first property, and gained planning approval for business operation
•provided counseling and groupwork for six years
•organised a 2 day practice forum for workers from Victoria’s rural refuges
Providing supervision, debriefing, training, and community education were incidental to these experiences
