Dr Beth Strain was born in Melbourne, Australia. She completed her PhD and Graduate Certificate in quantitative marine ecology at the University of Tasmania. She has worked as a researcher in Northern Ireland and Italy, and as a Senior Researcher at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and University of NSW on the World Harbour Project. She recently started a job as a lecturer in marine biology at University of Melbourne, and will be working on building better blue-green urban environments. Her research interests focus on assessing the effects of human stressors in driving the loss and recovery of key habitats. She is a passionate science communicator.
