Advertising and Public Relations, Community Service and Engagement, Families, Health and Medical, Media and Communications, Philanthropy, Women’s Health and Reproductive Rights
Astrid is a broadly experienced executive communicator with academic studies as well as a personal interest in art, literature and popular culture. Her background is in Marketing and Communications, which has given her an understanding of and “feel” for medical and scientific research. In a varied career, she has managed sales for Parfums Chanel and publicity for SBS, been a television presenter, run a community arts centre and festival in Britain, worked as a journalist with mainstream and trade press, and produced hundreds of corporate and technical videos, websites, newsletters, books, brochures and editorials. Years of consultancy has developed her ability to rapidly analyse situations and come up with creative ideas. Most recently, Astrid managed Fundraising at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health and at Guide Dogs Victoria.
Now semi-retired, she is a Board Member of Emerge Australia and an outspoken Patient Advocate about women’s vulval health.
