Andy Dinan founded and established Melbourne Art Rooms, known as MARS Gallery, in 2004 with a steadfast resolve for promoting Australian artists. Since its inception, MARS has staged in excess of 220 exhibition featuring over 330 artists. Andy specialises in exhibiting, promoting and building careers of emerging and mid-career contemporary Australian and International Artists. Under Andy’s watch, MARS enjoys a unique position staging regular exhibitions, attending international art fairs, curating special events and consulting on major public art commissions.
In life before MARS, Andy forged a reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic PR consultants in the 1990s. She established PR Works- an agency that quickly gained a reputation as a leading creative hot shop. After ten successful years at the helm, Andy sold her company to focus on her pechant for – the Arts- and with that applying her skills to grow the profile of artists- and getting their work out into the public domain, into private collections and other forums.
Identifying a niche in the market, Andy established a public art consulting service, ADA Art Consulting, in 2010 that integrated art into large and small scale property developments. ADA have established strong connections with Melbourne councils and take care to fulfil all stakeholders needs with every completed project. In addition to being responsible for many of the head-turning major public art works that adorn our newest buildings, Andy also co-ordinates a rental art scheme, affording others the opportunity to live with great art.
In 2014 MARS Gallery moved from Port Melbourne to its current location in Windsor, a space which enables the showing of challenging new media including sound sculpture, video and light art alongside contemporary painting, sculpture and works on paper.
Andy became publisher of The Article in 2016, an online forum for Australian and International cultural debate, reviews and features.
In 2014 Dinan was chosen as one of 100 Women of Influence in the Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards.
