Adibeh’s career spans over 40 years working as an advocate for CALD communities and human rights, publisher, radio broadcaster, bureaucrat, accountant and small business owner in tourism and hospitality.
Adibeh left Syria and arrived in Australia in 1977 in search of a better life. Despite the discriminatory barriers she faced to secure a job matching her qualifications, Adibeh was determined to build a good life in Australia and commenced an Accounting and Computer degree at La Trobe University. During which time she was the first to establish a multicultural student club which held cultural events for people from all ethnicities. This was part of the early movement in taking society a step closer towards a multicultural Australia.
She has since had a successful career working for the Australian Tax Office, the Australian Electoral Commission and as a Producer/Broadcaster for 3ZZZ Show and 3CR. She currently sits on numerous committees and has been instrumental in the establishment of Jewish Christian Muslim Association, Victorian Council of Churches and The Centre of Dialogue. She won a Syrian Ambassador award for her work within the Arabic & Syrian (Aramaic) community, and was the recipient of the ATO Harmony Hero Award. She has publishes books to a multilingual audience (Syriac Aramaic, Arabic & English), has been a speaker at several conferences- both local and abroad, owns an e-publishing website, is on the Editorial board of Babylon Magazine and frequently writes articles for numerous Arabic websites and magazines.
