Mandy McCracken has never been one to shy away from sharing. She loves to cut through and get to the point of what makes people tick. As a motivational speaker, writer, blogger and regular face in the media, her honesty has been a beacon to many going through similar life experiences.
Since loosing her hands and feet due to sepsis, Mandy is advocating for people with disabilities to become an everyday voice of our society. She began the first international support group for quadruple amputees and is a peer supporter to those here in Australia.
Mandy is a regular volunteer at La Trobe Uniersity’s Prosthetic Department, helping teach the next generation of students how to make artificial limbs. She also helped establish a local disability support group and has grand plans to spread it across her home state of Victoria.
Together wih her husband Rod, their public speaking is about resilience, personal strength and the zest of life they now truely appreciate. Be it in front of school students, corporate groups or graduating university cohorts, it’s a message that can apply to everyones life. Her book is almost finished, if only she can manage to fit it in between her regular media commitments!
Mandy has been nominated for the Pride of Australia Award – Courage Catergory, the Brenda Gabe Award, celebrating the contributions of women with disabilities have made in supporting others just like them and most recently, is a semi-finalist in the Regional Development Victoria Leadership & Innoation Awards of 2018.
With a cheeky sense of humour and a strengh only found by facing life head on, Mandy, with the support of her husband and three girls, loves to see life as one giant social experiment.
